Sensei Peter Spanton Seminar - Sept 13th 2009
Above - Course Black Belts
The Luton Lunatics were honoured to welcome Sensei Peter Spanton for his annual seminar. These sessions are always enlightening and exhausting and this year was no exception.
We started off with some hard basics and then went through some pure Wado-Ryu blocks and counters. These were very all very short, quick and effective techniques.
From there were moved into some sparring combinations designed to surprise and confuse our opponents. They also surprised and confused some of the people actually executing them.
Next was kata with all the students practicing katas according to their grades. We had to take a break as the class erupted in laughter after Sensei Hurley admitted he had "short, sharp one".
Sensei Spanton then pushed, bended and twisted katas we thought we knew so that even the black bets found themselves doing multiple press ups. Hayley surprised everyone by getting most of it right and the black belts soon found themselves copying her!
The Lunatics extend their thanks to Sensei Spanton for a great afternoon and we are already looking forward to the next course.
