Kata Assessment & Selection Session - May 29th
The Luton Lunatic's kata hopefulls travelled all the way to the Whitley dojo to try out for the National Kata Squad.
After some constructive training and assessment procedures, selections were made and confirmed for the 'A', 'B' and 'C' Squads. The criteria for squad membership selection was age, grade and current ability, together with future potential, pedigree, and, of course, recent results and performances at various open events. However age and grade did not rule anybody out, as many Open events have categories for various grades and ages.
It was quite obvious that Higashi have a lot of talent out there who only needed a chance to prove themselves. This many did and we were able to select an 'A' Squad (Permanent), a 'B' Squad (Provisional) and a 'C' Squad (Invited).
