Luton Higashi Club Quarterly
Merit Awards
Luton Higashi has introduced
an awards scheme where the hardest training students are rewarded for their
efforts. Awards are given to students who excel in the following areas:
- The most spirited student
- The most determined student
- The most all-round improved student
- The student with the most improved techniques
As it was Easter-time, John also
gave the winners an Easter Egg each to show his appreciation of their commitment
to training. This quarter's winners were:

Award winners - James, Ayushi
and Akash with Danielle in front
- Akash Sharma - The most spirited student.
If there is a kiai to be heard, it is usually from Akash! He has shown great
spirit in all his training and his standard has risen accordingly.
- Ayushi Sharma - The most determined student.
Ayushi soaks in karate knowledge like a sponge. She has shown great determination
in modifying her style from shotokan to higashi. She is single minded in
lessons and her techniques and power have improved dramatically as a result.
- James Mason - The most all-round improved
student. James has trained three times per week this year, hardly missing
a lesson. His dedication and capacity to learn has led to his standard rocketing.
Currently a purple belt, he now in a position to be put forward for the
gruelling brown-belt grading.
- Danielle Burge - The student with the most
improved techniques. One of Luton Higashi's youngest students, Danielle
has come out of herself in the past few months and is showing far greater
competence, fluency and understanding in her techniques.
