Luton Higash Karate Kai

Luton Higashi is on 97.6 Chiltern FM! - 17th May 2007

Babs from Chiltern FM's Breakfast Team was trying to find new ways to hurt co-presenter Gaz. We naturally invited them along to a lesson and this is what Babs thought:

"As I was unable to maim Gaz in the sphering ball so I decided to try again.

We were kindly invited by John Hurley and Jeff Archer to the Luton Higashi Karate Kai school. Jeff rang me the week before and said ' Would you like us to give Gaz Karate demonstration using him to practice on...and pay him back for all the mean things he's done to you'.

Well there's only one thing you can say to that "YES PLEASE". Jeff also promised me that the next day Gaz would be in "a considerable amount of pain"

So off we went to join the class, John is the main teacher and led the class, which was made up of a completely mixed group of people, kids of about nine to adults, men and women, boys and girls. There was a thorough warm-up which Gaz looked exhausted after, and then the real stuff started. Gaz was made to do all sorts of stuff that he said "turned his muscles to jelly" and at several points he just lay in a big sweaty mess on the floor.

Even the kids got in on the act and at one point chased Gaz around the room doing some very cool Karate moves on him. The photos really show how hard Gaz worked - and listen here .... it's very funny."
