The Luton Lunatics have had an influx of beginners so this was time to test them in their first grading. After the beginners had graded, it was time to test the students going for their purple belts. They knew they would be given a slightly more challenging time.

There was a good standard throughout and all the candidates passed.

Performances of note were:

Danny Duggan – he had trained with Sensei Hurley at his School and then attended the summer course run by the club. This helped him to ensure his techniques were well refined. This combined with his discipline and determination earned him a double grading to yellow belt.

Fiona Dow – Fiona has shown a lot of dedication and determination in lessons. This translated to an excellent grading where she was pushed to the limit for 90 minutes. She especially impressed the judges with her blocks and counters and free sparring where she showed just how dangerous she is. And she used to be such a quiet lady as well . . .

Well done to Danny, Fiona and everyone else who graded!
