James takes his 1st Dan and Jeff takes his 1st Kyu - Forest Gate, June 2006

It was another great day for the Luton Lunatics as two of our higher grades went for their promotions at Forest Gate, being judged by a panel led by Peter Spanton, 8th Dan.

Both Luton candidates, James and Jeff, put a huge amount of effort into their preparations and both of them shone on the day.

Both have gained a huge amount of experience, and a certain evil streak, as assistant instructors of the Luton Lunatics

In preparation for the grading, both of them attended the Ogwen course in North Wales earlier in the year.

Luton is very proud of James, its new blackbelt, as well as Jeff who passed his 1st Kyu and is now wearing "The Belt".

The Belt was first worn by Sensei John Hurley who passed it down to Sensei Chris Baxter followed by Sensei Alex Buxton, Sensei Sam Wright, Sempei Ayushi Sharma and Sempei James Mason. Nobody wearing The Belt has ever failed a black belt grading. No pressure Jeff!

Congratulations to James and Jeff!
